I'm
Dr. Sydney Ceruto

At 15, I lost both my parents. What followed wasn’t a movie-moment epiphany—it was years of sitting in therapy offices, talking about my pain while my brain kept looping through the same panic, the same fear, the same conviction that I was fundamentally broken.

I wasn't broken. My neural pathways were just stuck.

The Years I Wasted on Venting

I spent my twenties in therapy—good therapy, with kind people—rehearsing my trauma instead of rewiring it. Every session, I’d recount the same story: the loss, the abandonment, the anxiety that wouldn’t quit. And every session, I’d feel temporarily lighter, then darker the next day. My therapist wasn’t failing me. The model was.

The Pivot

I dove into behavioral and cognitive neuroscience—not as a student earning credentials, but as a mechanic trying to understand my own engine. I studied the amygdala, the default mode network, neural plasticity, dopamine cycles, and the specific mechanics of how fear gets hardwired into your prefrontal cortex.

And then I did something radical: I used myself as subject zero.

I didn’t “process” my trauma. I starved it. I identified the neural pathways that kept me trapped in anxiety and abandonment, and I systematically deactivated them while paving new ones for resilience. It wasn’t meditation or affirmations. It was neuroscience applied like architecture.

It worked. Within months, the panic stopped. The hypervigilance that had defined my twenties dissolved. I wasn’t “cured” in the sense that old anxieties never surface—they do. But they no longer own me. My brain tries old patterns, and now I have the tools to stop them in 90 seconds.

What I Know Now That Changed Everything

Your brain is not your enemy. It’s not broken. It’s just been trained wrong—often by events you didn’t choose and circumstances you didn’t control. And here’s the part that matters: training can be reset.

The neuroscience is simple. The execution requires precision. Most people fail not because they lack willpower, but because they’re using frameworks designed for the content of their problems (your boss, your marriage, your past) instead of the context (the neurobiology underneath).

"I don't coach your story.
I engineer your circuitry."

The Credentials

I hold dual PhDs in Behavioral and Cognitive Neuroscience from New York University and dual Master’s degrees in Clinical Psychology and Business Psychology from Yale University. I also completed the Executive Development Program at Wharton (University of Pennsylvania), where I have served as a guest speaker.

I am the author of the upcoming book The Dopamine Code: How to Rewire Your Brain for Happiness and Productivity (Simon & Schuster, June 2026). Over 25+ years, I’ve worked with thousands of clients—C-suite executives, hedge fund managers, athletes, artists, people rebuilding from trauma, high-performers who are winning at work but losing at home.

My work has been recognized with numerous prestigious awards, including the 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award from the World Coaching Congress, the 2025 Five Star Global Award, and induction into the 2024 Marquis Who’s Who in America. I am also a Forbes Coaching Council Executive Contributor and a CREA Global Innovation Award Honoree.

"The degrees prove I know the science.
The clients prove I can apply it."

What I Actually Do (And What I Don't)

I don’t do venting sessions. I don’t spend 50 minutes rehashing your week. I don’t believe in “processing emotions”—that’s just rehearsal.

I also don’t look at a clock. A session with me might be 30 minutes or 3 hours—whatever it takes to get you the breakthrough you need. Time doesn’t matter. Results do.

Instead:

  • We identify the specific neural pathway driving your struggle (your anxiety loop, your self-sabotage pattern, your abandonment response).
  • We understand why that pathway exists (usually, it kept you safe at some point; now it’s outdated).
  • We starve it of activation while building a new pathway that serves you better using Real-Time Neuroplasticity™.
  • You feel the shift in days, not months.

Most of my clients notice changes—real, measurable, undeniable shifts in how they think, feel, and show up—within the first 2-3 weeks. Not because I’m magic. Because neuroscience is precise, and precision works.

Who This Is For

The Skeptic: You think therapy is soft. You want neuroscience, not sentiment. You’re tired of being told to “sit with your feelings.” You want to change them.

The High-Performer: You’re crushing it at work—revenue targets, promotions, respect. But your personal life is a wreck. Your relationships are suffering. You’re winning the game but losing at home.

The “Broken” Achiever: You’ve been told you’re too damaged, too anxious, too much. You’ve tried everything—medication, therapy, meditation, retreats. Nothing sticks. You’re starting to believe the problem is you. (It’s not. The problem is your wiring, and wiring can be changed.)

Client Success Stories

The Real Work

Rewiring your brain isn’t comfortable. It requires you to notice patterns you’ve been running your whole life and have the courage to interrupt them. It means accepting that the strategies that got you here (hustle, perfectionism, control) might be what’s keeping you stuck.

But if you’re willing to do that work—if you’re ready to stop talking about your problems and start changing your circuitry—then I can show you exactly how.

Your brain built your current reality. Together, we’ll engineer a better one using Real-Time Neuroplasticity™.

Beyond the Coaching

I volunteer with Covenant House and the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI), because this work isn’t just about high-achievers. Mental health, resilience, and the freedom to rewire your brain should be accessible to everyone.

Off the Clock

The woman you see in these photos—laughing with family, adventuring through life, completely obsessed with her son and her animals—that’s the real me. I’m a loving wife, an adoring and proud mom to my incredible son, the kind of best friend who shows up in your corner no matter what, and a certified fanatic animal lover.

I’m a bit of a daredevil. I’ll try anything once. I’ve traveled the world—chasing sunsets in Spain, exploring wine regions, seeking out experiences that remind me I’m alive. I love everything from Football to Formula 1, and I genuinely mean everything.

I’m sensitive. Emotionally generous. The kind of person who feels deeply and isn’t ashamed of it.

The unexpected gift: Many of my clients have become dear friends. Real, genuine friendships that extend far beyond our work together. When I was 15, losing my parents meant losing my entire sense of family. I was alone in ways most people can’t imagine. But through this work—through showing up for people at their most vulnerable and having them show up for me—I built a family I never had. That’s what’s possible when you’re willing to be seen, to be real, and to do the hard work of rewiring. That family of choice is available to you too, if you’re willing to do the work.

Ready to Rewire?

If this resonates—if you’re tired of talking about your problems and ready to engineer solutions—let’s talk. I work with a limited number of clients at any given time. If you’re serious, let’s see if we’re a fit.
